TASHI YANGTSE BHUTAN

Tashi Yangtse – The Eastern Paradise

The route to Tashi Yangtse begins down south from Trashigang which is the farthest eastern district of the Bhutanese Kingdom. The topography of this area is very beautiful and the elevation ranges from around 1,900 ft. to 14,000 ft. making it a delightful place to visit. The major towns that dot the landscape are Phongmey, Radhi, Trashigang and Rangjung. Trashigang is a tourist base from where nature lovers drive or walk into the surrounding mountains and villages. The architecture in this part of the world is ancient and gives a peaceful and quaint look to the onlooker.

Travelling north from Trashigang you will find the beautiful Trashi Yangtse. Trashi Yangtse is home to a wonderful chorten that is a replica of the Bodhnath Stupa of Kathmandu. Though it is copied from the Nepalese chorten, it has a majestic aura to it and makes it a must see. The town of Tashi Yangtse also houses a hospital and the Dzong, Institute for Zorig Chusum, a school of traditional art. The Dzong dates back to 1659 and is built on an inaccessible terrain to protect it from invaders. It houses the Trashigang Dzongkhag headquarters.

In addition to all these, the Tashi Yangtse offers a lot more to the tourist.
